What We Collect

• Username — randomly generated, anonymous. No real name required.
• Email — optional. Only used for account recovery if you choose to link one.
• Device ID — to prevent duplicate accounts and enforce bans.
• Location — approximate, used only for nearby discovery and Wall distance filters. Never shared.
• Confessions — the text you submit. Stored anonymously with no link to your real identity.

What We Don't Collect

• Real names, phone numbers, or social media profiles
• Photos, contacts, or browsing history
• Precise location tracking or movement history

How Confessions Work

Confessions are transmitted peer-to-peer within your circle using Apple's encrypted MultipeerConnectivity framework. Only approved confessions are stored on our servers. Your username is randomly generated and cannot be linked to your real identity.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party. Period.

Content Moderation

Confessions are checked against a content filter to prevent illegal or harmful content. Users who repeatedly violate guidelines may be banned. Banned users can appeal via support@getuntold.app.

Data Retention

You can delete your account at any time. Your confessions on the Wall will remain anonymous (no way to link them back to you). Unapproved confessions are never stored.

Children

Untold is not intended for users under 17 years of age.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
